Book Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

About a week ago, I finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Here is a book review on it!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire:

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter is invited to go to the Quidditch World Cup by Ron Weasley. Harry goes and sees the World Cup. Next thing he knows, Voldemort's sign is in the air. He then goes to Hogwarts. To his surprise, he is entered in a deadly tournament against his will. He ends up fighting a dragon, saving a life, and fighting a villain thanks to that tournament. To find out more, read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling.

This book is 734 pages.

Book Review: The Third Wheel

Yesterday, I read the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, The Third Wheel. The Third Wheel is the 7th book in the series. Here is a review on the book:

In The Third Wheel, Greg Heffley's school is having a school dance. All the boys are changing the way that they act. They have these special invitations to get people to go to the dance with you. The invitations cost 25 cents each. Some people get 30, while others get 0. Greg is one of the people who gets 0. He tries many ways to get a date to the dance. Edublog Awards Nominations

It's time for me to announce who I will be nominating for the 2012 Edublog Awards! Last year, I won best student blog!

For best student blog, I nominate GBM Corner by Mark. He deserves to win very much. Mark started his blog late last year, so that he did not have enough time to show how great of a blogger he is by the time of the awards. He has been writing great reviews on games, books, and movies ever since he started his blog. That is why I nominate GBM Corner for best student blog!

For best class blog, I nominate Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog. I was in Mrs. Yollis' class in 3rd grade. She made it so that I really liked getting up every morning and going to school. That was because of her blog. If it wasn't for her amazing blogging and teaching skills, I wouldn't be sitting here, doing this post right now! She is the best blogger ever in my opinion. Also, she teaches her students all that she can about blogging. That is why I nominate Mrs. Yollis' Classroom Blog for best class blog!

Who did you nominate?

Thanksgiving Story

I did this story at school:

Blake the Sports Turkey

"He makes it! He makes it! The Duke Turkeys have won the NCAA Basketball Championship thanks to Blake!", the announcer roared. Hi, I'm Blake. As you can see, I just won my college championship in basketball. The announcer yelled, " The thankful turkey, Blake, just proved that he is as good at basketball as Michael Jordan! In my opinion, he's the most remarkable and creative turkey to ever play basketball."

Today, I am going to have a tryout match for the Texas Turkeys. After the match, we will have a Thanksgiving feast. "And here's the tipoff! Blake wins the tipoff.", the announcer yelled. I just saw a robber leave with 35 basketball. I'm going to go run after him. Luckily, coach won't see because he's not at the game.

I've got him! I'll be so wealthy and very admired once people know that I caught him. Time to unmask him! "Coach Popovich!", I yelled. Apparently, I was on the big screen. The crowd cheered at the top of their lungs! We had our Thanksgiving feast. At the end, some humans came and ate me. I hope turkeys will always remember me as a grateful and outstanding turkey. First, I won a college basketball title. Next, I won a tipoff in a professional basketball game. Finally, I caught a robber. I had a magnificent life and I am very thankful for it!

Halloween Story

My friend Justin and I did this Halloween story about a monster in school:

Nightmare in Downtown LA

One night, we were camping outside Staples Center. Today, there is a full moon. Maybe, a werewolf will come. We were getting in our sleeping bags, when we heard a loud sound. We went to the owner of the LA Sports Museum, and took a key from his office for Staples Center. We traveled in our spaceship back to Staples Center. My buddy, Justin, took the key and opened the huge doors. No one likes trick-or-treating anymore.

The problem was, there were no lights on. I, Jaden, fell into the arena. I then rolled down the stairs, with Justin running down them a few steps behind me. I then fell onto the court, and Justin ran beside me. Right when he asked me if I was okay, the lights went on. We found ourselves right in front of a 9’ 3” muscular monster with a Michael Jordan jersey on. He’s a zombie, according to him.

He had a pumpkin head, glasses, antlers, spooky arms made out of tree branches, dark green pants, a Michael Jordan Bulls jersey, and MJ 3572 basketball high-tops. He smells like pine trees. The only way to kill him was to beat him in basketball, and then dunk over him.

“Hello, my name is Patrick “BOO” Witchster. My ancestors were witches. Father is a mummy. Mother is a ghost. I would eat you, but I love basketball more, and I need someone to play with. Also, everything that I eat tastes like chocolate. I HATE CHOCOLATE! I’m as mean as a monkey when he doesn’t have bananas. You will see, I’m as mad as a mad-man. You must now play basketball with me. If I win, I will kill you. If you win, you are free.”, he roared.

We were losing 135-133. I made a full-court shot at the buzzer to win the game. The court rumbled like a crowd at a Clippers vs. Lakers game. I rode on Justin’s shoulders, and I dunked over the monster! The rim bounced up and down since I dunked it so hard.He fell to the floor with a thump, and yelled, “I will get revenge someday!” We celebrated and then, a boulder took his place, and when the Lakers and Kings came to practice, we threw the boulder at them, and yelled, “This is our town!” Then, the owner of Staples Center came and said,”You know how much this stadium cost? It cost me an arm and a leg! Then he started walking forward and..........

The Presidential Election

Today is November 6, and that means it is the Presidential Election! We might elect a new president today, but if we do, they will not take office until January 20, 2013. If we elect a new president, that means that Mitt Romney wins. If we don't get a new president, that means that Barack Obama will still be president. There are other elections today too. They include the Congress and the House of Representatives. Did you know that all spots in the House of Representatives are up for grabs?

Ten things I've learned from blogging

These are ten of the many things I've learned from blogging since I started:

As the school year starts, I thought I would share the ten most important things I have learned about blogging since I started 2 years ago:

    1. Use correct grammar so people understand you. Don't shorten words like you do when you text. For example, write “why” instead of “y”.

    2. Blogging teaches you how to type. It helps me remember to keep my fingers on the home keys. Now, I can type very fast without looking.

    3. When people are nice enough to comment on your blog, comment back so they will return to your blog. This creates an ongoing conversation and give both people a chance to learn more on the topic of the post.

    4. Write appropriate blog posts so kids are allowed on your blog. Don't post an inappropriate youtube video or parents won't let their kids return to your blog.

    5. Don't write anything mean so you don't hurt feelings. If you write a blog review, only say things you like about it. Don't write, "This is the worst blog ever!".  If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.

    6. Don't say your last name, or where you live, or what school you go to for internet safety. If you do that someone may be able to locate you.

    7. If you see someone do something wrong tell them so they can fix it to help their blog. Sometimes there are spelling mistakes.  Let them know so they can correct the post.  If your friend writes an inappropriate post, tell them to take it down, so kids are allowed on their blog.

    8. Don't post pictures of yourself. This is for safety reasons. You want to try to limit the amount of personal information about yourself. By not posting a picture of your face, people are not able to try to look for you. They do not need any information other than what you choose to share on your blog. It also makes the blog a little more interesting in that it creates some mystery.

    9. When you create posts and comments, ask questions to keep the conversation going. If you don't, it could stop the conversation. Asking and answering questions makes the blog more popular and informative.

    10. Add gadgets to make your blog the best it can be. If you add gadgets it makes your blog more interesting.

What have you learned from blogging?

My 10 favorite WWE superstars: #10

I've been watching WWE for about 4 months. I'm going to write a post about every one of my ten favorites. This post will be about #10.

My 10th favorite WWE superstar is Triple H. He's 43 years old and he is trained by Killer Kowalski. He is married to Stephanie McMahon. That is Vince McMahon's daughter. Vince McMahon is the owner of WWE. He was in WCW for 1 year. Then he was in WWF for 2 or 3 years. Him and Shawn Michaels headlined DX which was short for D-Generation X. DX was the best wrestling group ever. He now still wrestles and is the COO of WWE.

The Los Angeles Clippers: Edition 2

As most of you have probably heard, the Heat won the NBA Finals on Thursday. The Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in seven games in the first round. I was at game four. The Clippers won game four in overtime to get a 3-1 series lead over the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies won games five and six only to be knocked out of the playoffs by the Clippers in game seven. In game one, the Clippers were down 27 with about eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and came back to win. The Clippers would be eliminated from the playoffs by the Spurs in the next round in four games. The Spurs would lose to the Thunder in the next round. The Heat defeated the Thunder on Thursday for the NBA championship.

My New Kindle

A few weeks ago, my parents bought me a kindle because we went to Hawaii. It was a very early birthday present. (My birthday is not until August 15) I have been getting books from the Los Angeles Library on there. They have a program where I can get on waitlists on my Ipad2 or computer and when I'm up, read it on my Kindle.

So far I've read 2 books on my Kindle. The books were Heat and The Batboy. Right now I'm reading Book 1 of The Ranger's Apprentice Series. It's called the Ruins of Gorlan. The only problem is that if you don't finish it in 3 weeks, you lose it and have to get back on the waitlist to finish it. Because it took me awhile to finish The Batboy, I have 3 days to finish The Ruins of Gorlan and still am only about 30% done. It does not show you the page, but it shows you the percentage of how much you've read.

Do you have a kindle?

Do you use a library?

Book Review: Catching Fire

Here is my review on book 2 of The Hunger Games, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins:

At the start of Catching Fire, they talk a lot about Katniss and Peeta's lives in Victors Village. That is where the winners of the Hunger Games live. Katniss' only neighbors were Peeta and Haymitch. Then, President Snow makes an announcement. The victors will compete against each other in the Quarter Quell. Next, they got new peacekeepers. Peacekeepers were the people who made sure that all citizens of Panem follow the rules of the Capitol. The new head peacekeeper whipped Gale because he found out about Gale hunting illegally. He almost bled to death from the whipping.

Most of the arena was water. Instead of the weapons and supplies being in the Cornucopia like usual, they were in a pile on a mountain. Katniss was allies with Peeta, Finnick, and Mags. There was a force field in the arena. Peeta ran into it. He was dead for awhile. Then, Finnick brought Peeta back to life with mouth to mouth. Next, a deadly fog came. Katniss and Finnick could not carry both Mags and Peeta, so Mags ran into the fog to death. Later in the games, they added Johanna, Wiress, and Beetee to their alliance. Wiress realized that the arena was a clock. There was the fog, the big wave, the monkey attack, and other things that happened at the same time every day. Then Wiress died. After that, Peeta, Katniss, Finnick, Beetee, Johanna, Enobaria, and Brutus were rescued by Plutarch and Haymitch. Then, the part that happened at the end shocked me, especially the last sentence. Peeta and some of the others were captured by the Capitol. In the last sentence, Gale said, "There is no more District 12" to Katniss.

I rate this book an A+ and it is by far the best book of the three in the Hunger Games trilogy.

The Hunger Games: Movie Review

Last weekend I saw the Hunger Games. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is based on the book trilogy. This is about the first book. That is the book that I'm reading right now. I'm about halfway done with it.

Here is my review:

The Hunger Games is about a country called Panem. There are twelve districts. The thirteenth was destroyed. Because of the war that made the districts, they made the Hunger Games for revenge. Prim Everdeem was called to be in the Hunger Games as the girl. Each district has to have a raffle for who will be in it unless someone volunteers. No one wants to be in it. You have to be 12-18 years old to be in the raffle. Because Katniss Everdeem does not want her sister in it she volunteers. The boy who is chosen is Peeta Mellark.

They have a mentor, Haymitch. He won it a long time ago. He is one of the only two people ever who have won for District 12. Also, they have someone named Effie who doesn't do that much to help them. They also have stylists. Katniss' is named Cinna. Peeta's is named Portia. Peeta has had a crush on her for a long time. Find out what happens in the games by reading the books or seeing the movie.

Here is a list of the most important characters:

1. Katniss

2. Peeta

3. Haymitch

4. Cinna

5. Effie

6. Prim

7. Gale

8. Rue

9. Prim and Katniss' mother

10. Cato

11. Portia

I give this movie an A+ and recommend that you read the book and watch the movie.

Have you read the book and/or watched the movie?

39 Clues-Books 1-4

I've started a book series called 39 clues. I have been reading the for about 3 months. Right now, I am on book 5, but I'm almost on book 6. There are 11 books in the regular series. Then, there are 2 books in the Cahill vs. Vespers series. Book 3 will come out on March 6.

The 39 clues are about the biggest family ever. Almost every famous person ever that you can name was a Cahill. They are in a race for 39 clues. The teams are Dan and Amy Cahill, Ian and Natalie Kabra, Alistair Oh, the Holts, Irina Spasky, Jonah Wizard and Sinead, Ned, Ted Starling. The winner will become the most powerful Cahill of all-time.

The interesting thing is that there are about ten different authors for the 39 clues series. I have every single book.

Here are my rankings for the best books from one to five:

1. Book 5 by Patrick Carman

2. Book 1 by Rick Riordan

3. Book 3 by Peter Lerangis

4. Book 2 by Gordan Korman

5. Book 4 by Jude Watson

39 Clues has a website. It is a very good website. You can play the game and upload your cards. I recommend going on it. Here it is: http://www.the39clues.com/ I recommend 39 Clues to ages 8 and older.

A Hobby I Enjoy-Basketball

For the Awesome Blogging Tournament, I have to write a post on a hobby I enjoy. I'm going to write about basketball. It is very, very fun. I love watching and playing basketball.

Since I started basketball, I've always loved it. My first season, I wasn't that good. My second season, I was a little better, but still not as good as I wanted to be. I was the star of my team in my third and fourth seasons. This season, I've not been doing as good as I wanted. I enjoy playing the sport because I love to shoot and it is very fun to pretend that there are three seconds left in the championship game and I try to hit the game winning shot. I love watching it because I could see what I need to do to improve and it is fun to see players like Blake Griffin and Chris Paul doing great dunks, layups, threes, and clutch shots. All in all, I love the game of basketball.

Do you like basketball?

What is your hobby?

Who has everybody going Linsane?

This is Linsanity! Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks has come out of nowhere and become a star. He has people saying Linsane, Lincredible and Linsanity. Last year, I saw him play when I went to see the Lakers vs. Warriors game. Since then, he's been on the Rockets and Knicks. Now, the Rockets general manager regrets cutting him. He's played in the D-League this year!

Out of nowhere, he's been playing amazing. For the last four games, he's been the star of his team averaging 28 points and 8 assists in those games. They've even played the Lakers! Tonight, they will play the Timberwolves. I'd like to see him do amazing against Ricky Rubio. It'll be crazy if he could go past Kevin Love, but maybe he will!

How good do you think Jeremy Lin is?

98th Rose Bowl: My 2nd Rose Bowl

On January 2nd, I went to the 98th Rose Bowl. It was my 2nd year in a row going. This year, the Wisconsin Badgers were playing the Oregon Ducks. At first, I wasn't going to go because I got my mom's ticket last year. My mom's friend who played for Wisconsin in college ended up coming. Because he came, I got to go. I went with my mom, dad, my parent's friend (John), my mom's friend (Mike), and his son (Zachary).
Before the game, we were tailgating. While everyone else was drinking I was playing football with John, my dad, and Zachary. When all of them stopped playing, a man came up to us. He said his sons wanted to know if they could play with me. He said he played football. We played for a little while. Everyone was looking at his throws and saw him limping so much that we figured that he was a quarterback. Then Mike went over. It turned out he was Tony Graziani!

At the end of the first quarter the score was 14-14. The score at halftime was 28-28. After the third quarter, the score was 38-35 and the Badgers were leading the Ducks. And, in the highest scoring Rose Bowl ever, the score was 45-38 and Oregon won! Three ways Wisconsin could've won were not fumbling in the same play as a huge gain, Russel Wilson spiking in with no time left, or the refs made the right call and said that there was 1 second left when he spiked it.

Here are some stats:

Wisconsin:

Wilson: 19/25 passing, 296 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, 6 rushing attempts, 18 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown

Ball: 32 rushing attempts, 164 rushing yards, and 1 touchdown

Toon: 104 receiving yards and 1 touchdown

Abbrederis: 119 receiving yards and 1 touchdown

Henry: 1 interception returned for 18 yards

Oregon:

Thomas: 17/23, 268 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, 1 rushing yard, and 1 interception

James: 25 carries, 159 yards, and 1 touchdown

Thomas: 2 carries, 155 yards, and 2 touchdowns

Tuinei: 158 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

Alonso: 1 interception

Here is a picture of me, Zachary, Mike, my dad, Tony Graziani, and his sons:

Clippers vs. Timberwolves

I went to the Clippers vs. Timberwolves game last Friday. I went with my dad. We got to sit in the Premier section at mid-court! Every sports game I've ever gone to I've tried to get on the big screen. I got on it for the first time ever! I got on it 3 times. There is a reason I wrote that 3 that you will find out. The second time I lifted up my shirt so people could see my stomach! Chris Paul didn't play again.
Here were our pre-game selections:

For the whole time I did the first selection and he did the second.

The final score was 101-98. Rubio tied the game at 98 with 20 seconds left in the game. Billups missed a layup with about 2 seconds left. The Timberwolves called a time-out. They passed the ball to Love and he made a buzzer-beeter 3! For the first time in almost two years the Timberwolves got on a 3 game winning streak! Player of the game goes to Love for his buzzer-beeter 3!

Here's a picture of a hat I got:

Clippers vs. Nets

Today, I went to the Clippers vs. Nets game with my friend Riley and my dad. It was my second year in a row going to the Clippers game on Martin Luther King Day. Chris Paul was questionable to play. We hoped that CP3 would play because of the rivalry between him and Deron Williams. Here were our pre-game selections:

Player of the Game:

Jaden: Blake Griffin

Riley: Blake Griffin

Final Score:

Jaden: 121-96

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Los Angeles Clippers

Yesterday, I went to the Los Angeles Clippers vs Milwaukee Bucks game! I ended up going by telling my dad that they were playing 2 days ago and he said, "Why don't we go there instead of going to their house?". We went with my friend Riley and his dad. Riley recently created Celtics Nation and Thunder Universe!

They picked us up. We were going to ride the train, but it was to late. We ended up passing the stadium, finding a parking spot ten minutes after the game was supposed to start, finding a shortcut, crossing the street, running through Staples Center, having to go to a different aisle, and making the game 2 seconds before tip-off.

After the first quarter, the score was 15-18 and the Clippers were winning. There were a bunch of amazing dunks by Blake Griffin throughout the game, including an alley-oop from Chris Paul. Lob city! When the first half ended, the score was 40-38 and the Bucks were winning! When the 3rd quarter ended, the score was 65-72 and the Clippers were winning. The Clippers ended up winning 92-86!

Here are some halftime stats:

Chauncey Billups: 6 points

Blake Griffin: 10 points, 8 rebounds

Chris Paul: 4 points

Caron Butler: 6 points, 4 rebounds

In the third quarter Caron Butler got 14 points! That brought him to 20!

Blake Griffin got to a double-double with 6:14 left in the game. That brought him to 20 points, 10 rebounds.

Here are the stats leaders:

Points:

Brandon Jennings: 21

Blake Griffin: 22

Rebounds:

Drew Gooden: 13

Blake Griffin: 14

Assists:

Brandon Jennings: 7

Chris Paul: 7

Steals:

Brandon Jennings: 2

Chris Paul: 4

Blocks:

Jon Leuer: 2

DeAndre Jordan: 3

Chauncey Billups didn't do as good as normal from beyond the three point line, finishing 2 out of 6. (Same stats from beyond the three point line as Caron Butler)

Here is a picture of a sign I got:

Round 1: Ultimate Blogging Challenge

It is time for the Ultimate Blogging Challenge to start! First thing is first, let's find out the official teams:

Team 1: Jaden and Ethan

Team 2: Mark and Jake

Team 3: Clarrisa and Dylan

This will not usually happen, but this week each team will have two challenges. The first one is the same one for every team. Figure out a team name by writing comments to each other on this post! Then, write a comment to me telling me your blog's name!

This is the list of challenges that your team will have:

Team 1: write a comment on the other person's last post and every single one they publish until January 10th

Team 2: write a post about a sport

Team 3: write a comment on every blog in the challenge by January 10th

If someone on team 3 writes a good comment on your blog (correct capitalization and punctuation), but you don't publish it for some reason, leave a comment on my blog telling me, so I make sure they get credit.

I hope you don't get eliminated in the first round!
